Wes Edens, the CEO and chairman of New Fortress Energy (NFE), has set his plan in motion to help accelerate the global transition of using clean energy. He has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Islamic Republic of Mauritania to build an effective center of clean energy activity off the coast of Mauritania.
The types of clean energy Wes Edens plans to create in Mauritania include:
- Natural Gas
- Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG)
- Blue Ammonia
NFE plans to use the available saved gas found off the shore of Mauritania to support an existing power plant and one they plan to build.
The importance of this work is seen by Wes Edens discussion how after these gases are produced with NFE’s fast LNG liquefiers, then Mauritania will be at the forefront in supplying cleaner gas to the world.
Compared to current liquefaction processes, NFE’s new fast LNG process is more efficient and cost-effective. NFE is working to move this new technology into other locations around the globe, including in the United States.
Emissions and pollutions will decrease as more natural gas is utilized, and the use of oil is decreased. NFE and Wes Edens have dedicated their efforts to accelerate the production and use of cleaner gas throughout the world.
Even though the MOU is not binding and may even change, it is a progressive step toward helping secure a cleaner and brighter future for generations to come. We should all be watching NFE and Wes Edens’ plans to build an energy center off the coast of Mauritania and hoping it all works out well.
